NFL Playoff Schedule
The current NFL Playoff schedule has been in place since 2002. There are 4 division champions- North, East, South and West- in each conference- AFC and NFC. These teams are seeded 1 through 4 according to their total performance record for the season. Added to the 4 division champions are the two “wild card” qualifiers – teams who didn’t win their division but have the conference’s overall best winning records. These wild card teams are seeded 5 and 6. This site is the best place to see the NFL playoff schedule.
So there are 6 teams from each conference going to the NFL playoffs. The first round, known as the Wild Card Playoffs, sees the third-seeded division winner hosting the 6th seed wild card team. The 4th seed divisional champion plays host to the 5th-seeded divisional champ.
The top two seeds from the AFC and NFC automatically qualify for the second round, known as the Divisional Playoff games. Presently, those teams that have made it through “Wild Card Weekend” must take on these top seeds. That’s when the fun really begins!
The playoffs pecking order is ‘re-seeded’at this point, with the top seed hosting the lowest seed, and the second seed hosting the second-lowest. Those teams that make it to the next round meet in the Conference Championship games. The winners of the Conference Championship games go to the Super Bowl. It’s a beautiful thing.
